After taking on New York’s The Journal Gallery Gallery final month, Kenny Scharf will probably be presenting the I’m Baaack solo exhibition in Tokyo.
It’s been 30 years since Scharf has proven a physique of recent artworks in a solo showcase, particularly at a Japanese gallery. The exhibition will happen throughout NANZUKA UNDERGROUND and Sogetsu Corridor beginning June 10. At Sogetsu Corridor, an extra set up that includes a transformed Cadillac may also be displayed on the web site’s Isamu Noguchi-designed rock backyard.
I’m Baaack consists of 23 sculptures and work, most of them created between 2022 and 2023. As common, Scharf’s signature coloration schemes and pop surrealist motifs make a return on this new physique of works. Within the framed work, shiny cartoon-esque figures are decked throughout brightly-hued bases in varied explosion-like spectacles.
